Dr. Paras Gravouniotis

A mechanical engineer by training and a graduate of Imperial College London MSc in Environmental Technology (Energy Policy & Economics Option). Paras initially worked as a research associate at Imperial on fuel cells and the hydrogen economy, Renewable Energy Sources and Distributed Generation looking at market penetration and technology transfer in research projects by the UK’s Dept of Trade and Industry, the UN, the World Bank and the Japanese, Bulgarian and Greek economy and energy ministries. His doctoral research involved the construction of a non-linear simulation model looking into adoption rates and diffusion of demand-side energy equipment with a focus on System Thinking and dynamic behaviour of socioeconomic structures. He consults on European Research and Structural Funds programmes and is currently acting CEO and heading the investment programme on production efficiency, energy savings and environmental compliance at a manufacturing industry in Greece. Among other duties he co-designed and commissioned a 8MWth biomass steam boiler switching away from fossil fuels, adopted ISO14001 standards, halved water consumption below EU’s BATs, was awarded a grant to build an innovative constructed wetland for effluent treatment and submitted two Horizon projects.
